The Give Act requires anyone receiving school loans, among others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade (depending on level of aid).

• HR 1388 touts aims to “leverage investments to increase State, local, business and philanthropic resources to address national and local challenges” (in other words to train for service through non-profits and government – can you say serfdom?), but is downright specific in what its members can and cannot do.
o Forbids any student in the brigade to participate in “engaging in religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytizing. (You aren’t allowed to talk about or participate in your faith!)
o Amendment 49 of this bill PROHIBITS organizations from attempting to influence legislation, organize or engage in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes and assist, promote or deter union organizing.
Section 120 of the Bill describes in the “Youth Engagement Zone Program” how “service learning” will be “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.”
