Science.
If science were tested by the rules of prophecy in the Tanakh, it would have been stoned many times over by now.
NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth’s atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed. Study co-author Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and U.S. Science Team Leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA’s Aqua satellite, reports that real-world data from NASA’s Terra satellite contradict multiple assumptions fed into alarmist computer models. -Yahoo News
Science observes. Science does not predict. Science cannot predict the past or the future any more accurately than any of the other false prophets that have littered our world for thousands of years.
This is not to say there is no value in science. There is value in science —but the concept of science is being so misused that I wouldn’t be surprised to find some future generation of Luddites replacing the word with something else to split the false prophets from the people who simply want to observe and understand.
For the Christians, science is a fickle friend. For instance, years ago I had a discussion with a man who runs a ministry that I supported. The conversation resulted in my withdrawing all support from his ministry, and several related ministries. This man was claiming that global warming was real, manmade, and was the “fire” that God was storing up to destroy the world in the end times. Now that global warming has been completely and totally discredited, where will this ministry turn now? They have relied on the false prophets in the scientific community, and thereby become flase prophets themselves.
The same holds true for the various folks who have been warping the Scriptures to make them fit into the old Earth/evolutionary model. Where will they turn when “science” proves the Earth isn’t so old after all?
Science is no prophet. Stop treating it like one.
